This is a great piece of news, Fring on the tablet. I’ve used Fring on several S60 device and it’s great, it’s the one and only IM client and VoIP client you need. Now it’s available on the N800 fantastic, as soon as I get 5 mins I’ll be installing it and letting it [...]

Proporta bought me a drink!
July 17th, 2008 · No Comments
My Proporta Mobile USB charger just turned up and in the package was an Earl Grey Tea Bag!
The device is pretty neat too, it used mini usb to charge, so I can carry just one mini usb cable around (the same one as used to connect the Phone to the PC) and I can [...]

Strange message beeps during calls
July 16th, 2008 · 2 Comments
I’ve been using my E61i again for business and it’s been acting up today, probably because it’s been consigned to the drawer for two weeks whilst I’ve been using the E71. I’m not a huge fan of call waiting, as I’d rather deal with the call in hand quicker and then deal with the next [...]
E71 Catch up
July 15th, 2008 · No Comments
I haven’t mentioned it for a while, but I’ve still got an E71 from WOM world and it’s by far the best business phone out there. I use an E61i for business and the E71 knocks it for six. There are several reasons why the E71 is better, but take my word for it, it [...]

Buying an iPhone is good for Nokia
July 15th, 2008 · 2 Comments
OK, trust me with this one, there’s an argument here, if a little weak, but there’s one; I have several pals who can be described as Normobs, they have a mobile phone, it’s used for calls and SMS and that’s it. One of my pals though who’s a Normob (we’ll call him Norm) has decided [...]
Proporta USB Mobile Device Charger
July 14th, 2008 · 3 Comments
A Proporta Mobile Device Charger is now in the post on it’s way to me. I took Jonathan’s advice that it’s the best accessory ever. I did go and check out the Solar chargers but all the comments on them seem to indicate they were pretty poor, so I’ve decided to leave well alone for [...]

E71 doesn’t do Blackberry connect?
July 12th, 2008 · 4 Comments
I’ve not had time to check this out and I don’t have a Blackberry service, but a reader contacted me about the imap idle on the E71 and E66. I reponded with the facts that imap idle works great on both the E66 and E71 and that I’d ditched my hosted exchange account as the [...]

Gadgets and kit for vacation
July 12th, 2008 · No Comments
I mentioned in an earlier post that our vacation was fast approaching and that I was clearing off memory cards ready. I’ve made an effort to fit all the kit into one bag this year and make it easier on me to remember kit and transport it, it’s a Lowe pro Stealth Reporter camera bag. [...]

Nokia E71 a two handed device.
July 4th, 2008 · No Comments
I’ve been using the E71 for a couple of days now and I don’t know what to think, but something is nagging at me, that maybe this isn’t the perfect phone I’d hoped it would be. It may be just me and how the device is used rather than the device itself being at fault. [...]

The E66 does have an improved email client
June 29th, 2008 · 3 Comments
Despite what people have been saying Nokia must have improved the built in email client of the new E series devices. I’ve been using the E66 and have set up the email client to use imap with gmail and it’s worked perfect for the last week. The idle works as it should, it sits there [...]

Home screen plug-ins on the E66
June 29th, 2008 · 2 Comments
I moved back to the N95 last night for a few hours and I noticed a couple of things, one the battery is dire and that I really miss the ability to edit the alerts and plug-ins on the home screen. This is another of those e-series features that needs to cross over to the [...]

1 week with the Nokia E66
June 25th, 2008 · 4 Comments
I’ve now had the brand new Nokia E66 for just over a week and..I haven’t been able to put it down. It’s one of the best phone’s I’ve ever had. So I’ll kick off with the bad points first of all then cover the good things about this device.
First off, the firmware has a [...]

E66 sets world record
June 18th, 2008 · 2 Comments
OK, it got you to look, I don’t think it’s a world record, but it’s a record for any phone I’ve had. I’ve managed to open 30 applications and still have 32.3mb of ram left. There are some big ram hungry apps open in the list too, Google maps, Nokia maps to name two. Even [...]

The Nokia E66 breathes gently
June 17th, 2008 · No Comments
The E66 breathes…it sits there all dark, then the white light around the D-pad slowly comes on and then dies away slowly. This is a lot nicer than the aggressive flash of other devices that tell you it’s still alive.

update on e51
April 24th, 2008 · No Comments
I’ve had the e51 for a few days now and I’ve clocked up 8 hours of calls on it and it’s worked flawlessly each time. I think the keyboard on it is just great. The buttons are a really nice size and have a nice feel to them too. I sync my e61i with my [...]
