I just responded on Jaiku to a request for idea’s on push email solutions involving google, I responded with the following and I thought I’d blog it too, make it a bit more permanent.
1. All mail from all email addresses (5 in use) go through to gmail.
2. Gmail has filters that strip out spam and bacn (alerts from ebay etc)
3. Gmail forwards to me at mail2web any other email, such as jaiku alerts, twitters direct messages, facebook messages and any other personal email.
4. mail2web exchange client is set up via mail for exchange on N95 which is free, I only turn it on when I step away from my desk for a long period of time. But it get’s email instantly.
5. I upgraded to mail2exchange pro so that I could change the respond from email to that of gmail so that when I respond from the n95, it looks like it came from gmail.
6. I also auto cc an email address which goes into gmail, which gmail filters straight to archive, so that I have a record of all email, sent and received searchable in google.
that solution works great for me and it cost $1.99 a month..to me that’s about a pound..a bargain.
I use pretty much the same solution, with a domain name and Google apps forwarding to a seperate Gmail and mail2web account.
This has cost me nothing, as I reply from the Gmail account – using the Gmail client for the E61.
Hi,
Would you mind sharing with thus your auto cc rule/filter. I have tried it before and couldn’t make it work well. May only one of my neural cells is working right now. Thanks.
