Al-Queda plot to bring down UK internet

March 11th, 2007 · 1 Comment

SCOTLAND YARD has uncovered evidence that Al-Qaeda has been plotting to bring down the internet in Britain, causing chaos to business and the London Stock Exchange.

In a series of raids, detectives have recovered computer files revealing that terrorist suspects had targeted a high-security internet “hub” in London.

The facility, in Docklands, houses the channel through which almost every bit of information on the internet passes in or out of Britain.

Yikes I once worked for a few months out of Telehouse and it does remind you of CTU, when you go in and out (it has tubes that blow air over you and detect explosives)

There’s lot of commercial traffic passing through there not just internet traffic, so this is an interesting development. [via]

    Mary,

It’s set up like all the internet is set up. This would have caused a lot of damage to a building with a bunch of routers in it and we wouldn’t have seen any (or very little) impact on the internet.
